Hi, I’m Rob—an investor relations advisor focused on helping African listed companies meet their fiduciary duties to shareholders through modern digital communication. The objective? To create and grow shareholder value.

Shareholder value is simple: risk-adjusted financial return to the shareholder over time—or for retail investors: Did I make money, adjusted for risk?

I’ve spent 35+ years in African capital markets, starting as a Chartered Accountant and then becoming a capital markets advisor mainly managing IPOs (privatisation). I was the first Secretary to the Malawi Stock Exchange and the first stockbroker.

That experience led me to realise over many years that in this digital world most companies meet compliance requirements but fall short of their broader duty to ensure information is accessible, visible, and usable for both current and future investors. It's not their fault completely. The extraordinary extent of innovation in digital communications and now AI has created a significant gap in corporate and best-practice investor communications.

The gap is so big that it destroys shareholder value in many unseen ways.
Today, my work centres on closing that gap.

The opportunity for listed companies to leap-frog into the most modern communications practices is huge.

Through AfricanFinancials and The Investor Mailing Lists, African-IR supports listed companies with a structured, turnkey investor communications infrastructure—combining best practice IR websites, push communications, distribution, and engagement.

The focus of digital IR through formalised fiduciary duty is simple: protect shareholder value, strengthen liquidity, and reduce reputation risk through consistent, data-driven communication.

I publish three newsletters and actively post on LinkedIn:

These newsletters explore practical investor relations, governance standards, and the evolving role of digital IR communication in capital markets from the perspective of companies, their peers, and markets.

I believe listed companies are the cornerstone of wealth creation and sharing in African economies. Delivering on fiduciary duties in the digital age requires building daily relationships with directly connected investor communities over time.

It all starts with context because every company is different.

If that’s something you’re working on, I’d be glad to connect.
